Neil Gaiman said...Wolves(Dire Wolves) skulk...Wolves do not Skulk..
Coyotes skulk some...never wolves...They are missles that aim straight
for the throat..

Homeless people?

Philip K Dick was darned sure that the " Great Being " would
be hidden in the debris strewn wastelands of America..
A homeless person-but probably w/o a beard..

Loki?

Phoenix, Arizona...a 19yr old girl and her 22 year old sister
drove around The Valley of the Sun in the 19yr olds muscle car
convertible...The younger girl had an enormous black male german shep'd..
perhaps 160-180 lbs..
It had a crazed look in its eyes...
His name was Loki...
The 4 of us drove out to Canyon Lake-past Tortilla Flats..
The girls were indecisive about swimming across the lake to
the Superstitions on the other side..
Loki and I swam across...The water deep, cold and pure..
Once on the far shore..which was jagged compressed arroyo..
I went a ways back into it...through the clefts..
with each step I could feel the power of those mountains..
          Loki wouldn't come along..
So I dived back into the lake to swim back..
Loki would not jump back into the water..hesitating as
dogs sometimes do..
Loki had found a 2.5 foot bank..and after 10 minutes
of treading water and coaxing him...w/o success..
I reached up and firmly but gently snagged his right
forepaw and yanked him into the lake...
Then we swam back across together as we had earlier
swam together to the Superstition side..
Only this time Loki would turn his eyes to me
and give me blood curdling looks...
The eyes of Loki the Dire Wolf( He could have been a ban dog-half shep and half wolf) were red..
I let Loki climb out first and wander the shore
                    while I swam about/for 10 minutes
letting the rage of Loki cool off...
The last thing I wanted to do was get in a tussle with this strange and fearsome
      Black entity...

      Odin?

In my travels...I had a business acquaitance who lived
@Ann Arbor, Michigan...he let me use his address for
insurance purposes and as an address for a Michigan
Drivers license...The address was 99 Valhalla Drive...
Poul Anderson's " The Mother of Viking Kings "
is a good read and has nice stuff about Finnish Magic..
Although Poul's " Boat of a Million Years " is

also very good...The Chapter on the Commanche(Kiowa Commanche)shows he did not know the truth about that great band of
first people...Anderson took the Robert E. Howard Texass approach..
skulking red devils...which is very far from reality...
Oh well! Now I'm gonna order Aegypt and see about JC's approach
to heretical gnostic cosmology..

I don't know if I want to get on the wrong side of Odin... I think I'm going to trust Neil Gaiman on this one, Odin and his ilk are not to be trifled with.

Unless we're quite sure that the armored bears in Svalbard got that $5.5 billion bucks for military defense... I'll go against Odin if the bears have our backs.
